Annually recurring fixed cost (insurance, taxes and service costs)
Mileage-dependent variable cost (electric charging costs).

While electric cars do not yet differ significantly from conventional cars in terms of purchase price, electric cars are significantly cheaper in terms of taxes and service costs, as well as electricity costs - in some cases by up to 50%. This has a positive effect on your savings budget, especially in the long term.

Leasing as a sensible alternative to purchasing?

Despite the fact that vehicle leasing used to suffer from a tarnished image, it is worth considering leasing in the event of purchasing an electric car. The reason, however, is not mainly due to the general financial considerations but also lies in risk minimization: As the pace of development within e-mobility technology is difficult to foresee, the same applies to the resale value of an electric car. After all, regardless of whether there are new electric car models with improved levels of performance or entirely new technologies within the next two to four years - the leasing company is required to take the car back at the initially agreed value after expiry of the leasing period.
